READING. Read the following advice and discuss it.

There are a few keys you’ll need to founding a successful restaurant -- one that stays open for over a year. The first is, obviously, passion. No one should start a restaurant to make money. If that’s your goal, you’ll almost certainly fail. However, it takes more than heart and talent to succeed:

1. Perfect your menu.

2. Pick great staff.

3. Choose comfortable furniture and appealing decorations.

4. Market your restaurant effectively. While a restaurant website, thankfully, does not need to be anything too elaborate -- some of the best are only a page or two -- it does absolutely need to have four pieces of information: address, telephone number, hours of operation and menu.

ACTIVITY 1.   Answer the following questions.

● What kind of food do you want to serve?

● What is your menu selection inspired from?

● Where do you want your restaurant to be located?

● What kind of customers are you looking to serve?

● What’s the visual design of your restaurant going to be?

● What kinds of exciting promotions do you want to run?

● What’s the general layout of your restaurant going to look like?

ACTIVITY 2. Let's discuss the following concepts.

1. TARGET MARKET.

2. BUSINESS PLAN.

It should include:

a.  Description of Business - a quick overview of what your restaurant is about and what sets it apart from others.
b. Funding. This includes your plan to utilize restaurant equipment lease, a bank loan, or other financing or lease.
c. Services/Products - overview of the food you’ll sell or services you’ll provide.
d. Market analysis and marketing plan

Tourists dining in Spain. How do they see us?

VEGANS IN SPAIN.

Pre-reading questions.

Do you know any vegans?

What's the difference about being vegan and vegetarian?

Sisters Georgina and Gabbie Jarvis, from Leeds in northern England, were holidaying in Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol last week and they decided to visit an establishment that promised to ‘cater to vegans’.

They felt cheerful after spotting a vegetarian pizza on the menu but they got frustrated when the chef explained it contained egg. However, he promised to offer a vegan alternative .

Her sister posted a photograph of the salad plate consisting of roughly chopped raw tomatoes and red onions – which came with a price tag of €7.
out for tea and the restaurant claimed they catered for vegans, this was my sisters amazing vegan meal 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/5jBiSAiSYG
— gabbie (@gabbiejarvis) August 5, 2017
The disappointing dining experience obviously hit a nerve, and the tweet was liked over 61,000 times and shared by more than 16,000 people since being posted on Saturday evening.

 - Did Georgina and Gabbie manage to eat vegan ? What was the problem then? Why do they describe the experience as disappointing?
